Composer: Isang Yun (윤이상 Yun Isang) (September 17, 1917 – November 3, 1995) Orchestra: Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Saarbrücken conducted by Hans Zender This piece is formed out of two opposing dances: a boisterous, rhythmic “European Dance“ and a calm, elegant “Korean Dance.“ I really love the Sheng effect Yun creates in the woodwinds with the use of Sheng-like clusters, swells, and continual separation and rejoining of voices. ∪ is quarter-tone down, and ∩ is quarter-tone up.
