Roman Britain in Colour is a new project at the Great North Museum that helps people understand how bright and colourful the ancient world was. Archaeologist Dr Rob Collins of Newcastle University explains why the Romans created stone altars and how they painted them in vivid colours. Rob also explains the gods and goddesses that Romans living on Hadrian's Wall dedicated their altars to: Jupiter, Neptune, Oceanus, Minerva and even obscure British gods like Antenociticus.
