Flournoy Miller, Aubrey L. Lyles, Noble Sissle and Eubie Blake had a hit Broadway musical called “Shuffle Along“ in 1921 that ran for 504 performances at the Cort Theatre located at 48th Street, East of Broadway. This was one of the first Broadway musicals that was written, directed and starred African-Americans. The cast included Florence Mills, Paul Robeson and Josephine Baker.
