If we are not kind to our own, can we call ourselves humans? Comic by the wonderful Dizidood! Music: 'Last And First Light' by Scott Buckley - released under CC-BY 4.0. Inspired by a comment on 'Woah Boltgun' by @williamnone On a planet torn by strife between demons, orcs, and the forces of the Imperium. A contingent of Salamanders and Ultramarines are searching for whats left of the enemy. They stumble up a group of children, apparently orphans from the battles that destroyed their homes and killed their parents. One of the Ultramarines state that they will give the children the Emperor's Mercy. Only to be smacked upside the back of his helmet by Lieutenant Titus! Titus takes of his helmet and states, “Are these not the citizens of the Imperium that we are sworn to protect?“ Many of the Ultramarines hang their heads in shame. The field captain of the Salamanders decides to take all the orphans in and asks Titus if he will do the same. Titus agrees. And thus a new legend begins in the grim dark future of the 41st Millennium. Over time stories begin to circulate about Space Marine legions who have children aiding them in battle. The battle efficiency and prowess of these legions are higher in some cases then the best known squads and legions in the galaxy. The Administratum soon gained word that child Abhumans, child mutants, and even child eldar were being taken in by the aberrant Space Marine Chapters and sent Inquisitors to find out. Some Inquisitors came back with glowing reports, while others seemed to go missing or reported to have suffered an unfortunate accidents with airlocks and the business ends of lasguns or bolter rifles. After a while the leadership of the Order of Inquisitors requested that the Administratum stop sending their Inquisitors on these useless missions. Although some whispered that the last Inquisitor leader who put his hands on a Chapter child was stomped into a fine red paste, and that was the reason the Inquisition stopped “asking questions“. Regardless there could be no doubt that the efficiency of these Chapters was high and that morale was boosted where ever they went. These small chapters were soon being called the Orphan Legions by the public at large. Even Roboute Guilliman quietly gave his approval of these legions because he could see that the children were well taken care of and would gladly join the fight when the time came. And soon it did. The male orphans would either join the chapters that took them in as Space Marines, enter into the Imperial Guard, or even become Commissars. The girls would become administrative assistants for their home chapters, Sisters of Battle, or Apothecaries for their home chapters as well. The loyalty of the children was unquestionable, their faith strong, and their battle prowess amazed even some battle hardened infantry and Space Marines. When a Salamander Captain was questioned as to why they took in orphans he answered, “The tallest Space Marine is one who kneels to comfort a child! And no warrior fights harder then when he fights for his family! Do you understand now?“ And thus the Legious Orphanus or Orphan Legions was born. Small chapters of Space Marines who followed the ideals of the Great Primarch Vulkan! Who loved Humanity as their Emperor did! These chapters gave a dark and war torn galaxy a small light and hope and wholesomeness greatly needed in the grim dark future of the 41st Millennium. May the Emperor smile upon and bless them! #warhammer #warhammer40k #warhammer40000 #warhammermeme #voiceacting #chaoticvoices #boltgun #salamanders #kindness #warhammercomicdub Feel free to support me on Ko-fi!
