Our life-raft service station has been very busy since the arrival of marine evacuation systems (manufactured by Liferaft Systems Australia) for annual servicing from USNS Choctaw County, a US Navy Spearhead-class expeditionary fast transport. The ship routinely transits the Suez Canal to conduct maritime security operations and provide crisis response. The ship is equipped with six life-rafts – three on port and three on starboard, each of them with a capacity of 100 passengers. An inflatable evacuation slide (escape chute) that’s 17-meter long provides rapid and easy exit for the 300 troops or passengers to the life-raft.
