'The Fountain Statue at Tsarskoye Selo' is a poem by Alexander Pushkin set to music by the Russian composer Cesar Cui. Based on a fable by Jean de La Fontaine, it tells the story of a young peasant woman who wanted to get rich from selling milk, but breaks her jug, leaving her empty-handed. The bronze fountain at the centre of this song can be found in the gardens of the Catherine Palace in Saint Petersburg and the water has been flowing from 1816 to this day. 𝑻𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒔𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 See, as the water there flows, stands a girl with a broken jar. Desolate tears fall like rain, over the fragments so sad. Wonder! Miraculous joy, comes a stunning, spectacular fountain, Oh, but the maiden still cries, over the fragments so sad. Music by Cesar Cui Performed by Jannes Desmet (voice & piano) Words by Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin English translation by Heidi Pegler 𝑰𝒏𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒎 𝑺𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒄𝒍𝒐𝒖𝒅 𝑭𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒃𝒐𝒐𝒌 #Countertenor #Pushkin #CesarCui #Classicalmusic #Opera #Operasinger #Operasinging #Singer #Singing #Vocal #Voice #RussianSong #RussianPoetry #RussianRomance #ЦарскосельскаяСтатуя #Пушкин #АлександрПушкин #Поэзия #РусскийРоманс #ЦезарьКюи #ЦарскоеСело #Контратенор #Пение #ОперноеПение #Вокал #КлассическаяМузыка #Рояль
