This is my sparring helmet with face shield. I've got here specifically the RDX T1 Combox. This is the preferred headgear for most of the students in our Wing Tsun school. It's rather inexpensive, easy to get on and off. I'll show that here in a second. - Get the RDX T1 headgear here on Amazon: RDX Headgear Playlist: “Use A Sportsmask While Sparring?“ video - “RDX Head Guard“ - “RDX T1 Combox Face Shield Durability Test“ - “RDX T1 Combox field of vision test” - The outside is made of maya hide leather. It's got a gel lining, foam shock absorption around the cheeks, forehead and on the top. And, and then there's a chin strap underneath for your chin. The face shield itself is made out of a lightweight polymer. There are the velcro hooks that hold in place the face shield. I have never taken off the face shield on this one. So, um, I don't want to break that original seal, call me superstitious and what not but I'm not going to take it off. There's the one, the strap there. So this one will go over the back of your head. This one, I actually, we'll just hook it right here so that way when I go to put it on, all I have to do is to worry about this one strap. Alright. And then after you put it on, pull it down to adjust. I think I had to go down a size and what I normally would for like I order extra large clothes and um, I tried on a couple extra large helmets that were too big. This one covers my ears just right. I got pretty decent field of vision and we also train with sticks. So I like this coverage here on my nose. Especially when we're using the sticks or even when we're sparring, you know, the gap here is wide enough for your, for your field of vision, but also small enough to where you won't get a fist through there. Although it's got great cushioning and great shock absorption, I still want to emphasize the fact that this doesn't allow for full contact. When we're sparring or training with the gear on we're not going full speed because that's just a recipe for disaster. I still have got a mild concussion wearing this thing and it doesn't take much. Right? I got hit from the side and it wasn't even that hard so just wanted to mention that it's still pretty risky to go full contact. At our school, we train for combat not sport. If you are training for a sport like Boxing or Muay Thai I think there are better sparring helmets out there. For our purposes and what we do, how we train at the school, this works really well.
