Following the success of BMW Z4 GT3, BMW Motorsport was set to build up a follower which would exceed the predecessor and retain its strengths. They turned their gaze towards the M6 model and it was quite apparent at the time that a long wheel base car would have such benefits as better stabillity while cornering, higher top speed as well as much extensive potential for further improvements in comparison to the aged Z4. The BMW M6 GT3 was ready to hit various racetracks around the globe at the beginning of the racing season in 2016. As usual, one of the proving grounds was Nurburgring-Nordschleife racetrack. It was there where BMW works & customer teams in form of Rowe Racing, BMW Team Schubert & Walkenhorst Motorsport conducted first productive tests of their new racing “weapon“.
