China’s military has started a new round of war games with ships and aircraft operating near Taiwan. Beijing said that the wargames were aimed at sending a “stern warning“ to “separatist“ forces on the self-ruled island. The drills come just days after the self-ruled democratic island marked its National Day on Oct 10. The exercises, dubbed Joint Sword-2024B, were taking place in “areas to the north, south and east of Taiwan island”, the Chinese military said on Oct 14. A People’s Liberation Army (PLA) spokesperson added that the drills were “focusing on subjects of sea-air combat-readiness patrol, blockade on key ports and areas.” #china #taiwan #taiwannews #beijing #xijinping #taipei #taiwanstrait #worldnews n18oc_world n18oc_crux 0:00 INTRODUCTION 2:04 TAIWAN REACTS TO CHINA’S “PROVOCATIVE ACTIONS” 6:48 US SLAMS “UNWARRANTED” CHINESE DRILLS CRUX is your daily video news guide to the big events that are shaping our world.
