Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti, A well known Adi Kavi or a first poet

Valmiki who lived about 2,000 years ago is considered the first poet of Sanskrit literature. According to legends, Valmiki was a robber and reformed into a poet after he developed faith in God. He wrote Ramayana, one of the great epics of India.
