Reviews of weather events, natural disasters, astronomical phenomena and wildlife around the world Weather anomalies are observed in Central and Eastern Europe. The cause of the bad weather was cyclone “Boris“, which brought record precipitation and cold weather. And if in the lowlands the precipitation falls in the form of torrential rains, then in the mountainous Alpine regions in the form of heavy snowfalls. Austria, Switzerland and Germany were covered by September snowfalls and blizzards. In September, it often snows at altitude, but its amount in the last few days has been unprecedented in some places. The most difficult situation is in the Austrian eastern Alps. The mountainous regions of the country were in the grip of snow. Traffic in the cities was paralyzed, snowdrifts almost half a meter high formed on the streets. The snow slush has already caused dozens of accidents on the highways. An avalanche covered a group of tourists, one person is still being searched for. Authorities urged residents not to leave their homes, but heavy snowfalls also damaged power grids, leaving entire areas without power. #snow #Europe #snowfall
