Working out in our garage during the summer heat was too much so we installed a mini split AC unit and then insulated our garage door so the air conditioning would not leak out 👇 materials & links below! 👇 Huge thanks to MR COOL sponsoring this video, check them out here: Thanks to FLIR for providing the thermal camera so we could see how much the insulation helped! Like… hot enough that when we turned off our army of fans to actually film, we could only be out there for about 10 minutes without needing to come inside for an AC break. Adding AC to our garage is something that’s been on our to do list since we started this channel over a year ago and we’re so glad to have finally made it happen! After some back and forth, we decided to let professionals do the installation. A big part of this is because we also needed to have additional electrical work done and a new breaker added to our garage so that the AC had enough power to run. The electrical work wasn’t something we felt comfortable tackling ourselves, and for times sake we decided to pay for the AC installation too. There ARE units you can install yourself though. After the AC and electrical work was done, we decided to do some additional steps to ensure that our AC would stay in the garage as much as possible. We got strips of sealing material to go all the way around our garage: weatherstripping for the top and sides, and a rubber seal for the bottom. We even used a thermal camera to see how much AC was leaking out before and after we sealed the door off! This was really quick and easy and I think it would make a difference even if you didn’t install AC.
