Now something from the other end of the spectrum. Very few of us had the opportunity to watch Behzod Abduraimov play the 2nd Piano Concerto by Saint-Saëns last week with the Kansas City Symphony Orchestra. So here's the next best thing: his performance at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall with the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia conducted by Mikhail Agrest. (Apologies for the glitch in the 2nd movement of the clip.) Behzod Abduraimov will be touring China with the BSO next year, playing Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a theme of Paganini. He will also be playing the 3rd Concerto by the same composer, and Beethoven's 5th Concerto down under, Beethoven's 2nd Concerto at the Concertgebouw, and Tchaikovsky's Concerto no. 1 in Tenerife. What an exciting year for this young pianist. Courtesy of the Moscow Philharmonic Society.
