The poor Rajaram pretends to be wealthy in order to get married to his sweetheart, much to the displeasure of her father. After obtaining a degree in Arts, he attempts to find work but is beaten-up when he is found slacking. Rajaram returns to Bombay and one day comes across a bottle containing a 20000 year old genie with magical powers. The genie insists on helping him for one year.
