This amazing new video reveals the gut’s own nervous system. It is the latest data from the team exploring the gut-brain connection in the quest to solve brain disorders. Captured with lightsheet microscopy the images show a section of mouse colon in 3D with tissue structures (blue) and the neuronal network that surrounds the gut (pink). The team is unveiling the shape, size and organization of the enteric nervous system and is developing a micro-endoscopic device to further explore gut-brain dynamics in health and disease.
