Dozens of Tory MPs and the SNP are pushing to hold a formal vote to oust Sir Lindsay Hoyle as Commons Speaker. A total of 59 MPs have now signed a motion of no confidence in Sir Lindsay after his handling of a Gaza ceasefire debate yesterday resulted in chaotic scenes in the House of Commons. Stephen Flynn, the leader of the SNP in Westminster, told the Commons Speaker to his face in the chamber that the party does not believe he can “continue in your role” and “we do not have confidence in your ability to do so”.
