As the cars of the S.F. Edge Trophy went out for practice the heavens opened and the Goodwood Motor Circuit was engulfed in a practical river of flowing water. These pre-war monsters were not perturbed and in many cases continued to just power on through the damp surroundings. The most impressive of the lot was Hughie Walker in his incredible Theophile Schneider Aero, which he flung round Goodwood at angles that were at times scarcely believable and, despite it continuing to get wetter and wetter he actually set pole position on this very lap.
