A shoulder that has dislocated can tear the labrum and also may cause 'denting' or a compression of the humeral head. This is called a Hill Sachs lesion. This may make the shoulder unstable, even following successful labral repair. To extend the curvature of the socket (glenois) and to help dynamically stabilise the shoulder using a sling effect. The corocoid process may be transplanted onto the front of the glenoid using 2 screws to secure. Patients stay in overnight and wear a sling for 6 weeks following surgery.
