Don't forget to visit OUR SHOP here! ► ◄ Great acting, original design, and amazing visuals, Westworld has many Awards, including the Primetime Emmy award for Outstanding Special Visual Effects. But this award didn't just go to one VFX house... In fact, (in order to meet with the tremendous demand of around 3500 VFX shots per season) 10 different VFX companies worked on the show, including DNeg, Important Looking Pirates, Rise, Shade VFX, CoSA VFX, BOT VFX, Alkemy X, Technicolor VFX, Outpost VFX, and Juice. Instead, they worked really closely with the production designer and art department in the early stages, scouting locations and developing concept artwork. By starting with actual physical locations (Like the tower that was inspired by the Montjuic communications tower in Barcelona). they always had a specific style that they could mimic with their digital work. This made the process a lot quicker than having to invent an aesthetic and go through a lengthy design process for every scene. This also facilitated the process of creating Westworld's CG assets like machinery, robots, architecture, and technology. Westworld had a tremendous amount of VFX work, some was because they needed to show somewhere or something that didn't exist, others were to extend or augment somewhere or something that did. But because every visual effects shot was rooted in reality, they all went by unnoticed, and this allowed the story to shine through. instead of eclipsing it.
