The Florida Panthers came into town as the Penguins looked to get back in the win column at PPG Paints Arena. Pittsburgh would fall behind 2-0 in the first period of play but would battle back in the second with goals coming from Bryan Rust and Jake Guentzel just nine seconds apart to tie things up. The Panthers would then jump out to a 4-2 lead, scoring before the end of the second and early into the third. Sidney Crosby and the Penguins tried to work some magic, cutting the lead down to one with two minutes left in regulation but ultimately fell short, 4-3.
