Nicholas Bostic, 25, was driving around Lafayette, Indiana, when he saw a house on fire. Rather than wait for the fire department, he decided to immediately check everyone was safe by going into the burning house and looking for survivors. Upstairs, he found four children and helped them escape the house. But a fifth child, who was only six years old, was still trapped inside. He found her, carried the child upstairs, and, in a stunt that would be impressive in a Hollywood movie, punched a hole in a window and jumped out, making sure not to land on the side he was holding the child. He was greeted, and filmed, by the fire department, where he was hailed as a hero.
