We’ll explain what all the numbers and letters on the back of a BMW mean, and how they represent the cars’ series and engine. This topic has been the source of many questions, both in our comments sections, and from clients in person, so hopefully this video will provide some clarity. For the 228i xDrive Gran Coupé: the first “2” represents the series that the car belongs to. The “28” designates the engine size/output ( 4-cyl, 228hp).
