In 1995, Terry Gou and Steve Jobs became friends, leading to Foxconn becoming Apple’s chosen contract manufacturer. Initially, they produced body frames for Apple Mac computers, and in 2007, they also started manufacturing iPhones. As Apple’s dominance in the smartphone market grew, so did Foxconn. Recognizing the labor resources and policy advantages in mainland China, Terry Gou decided to establish factories there. After achieving success in mainland China, Terry Gou surprisingly stated, “I built factories in mainland China. Mainland China cannot survive without Foxconn, but Foxconn can completely survive without mainland China.“ Due to the strong partnership between Foxconn and Apple, the two companies were closely linked, experiencing both success and setbacks together.
