A person in Texas has been diagnosed with bird flu, after presumably coming into contact with infected dairy cows. It follows milk testing positive for the virus in two US states last week, and after it was also found among penguins on the sub-Antarctic island of South Georgia last month. Senior Medical Virologist and Professor at UNSW, William Rawlinson, explains to The World’s Beverley O’Connor how transmission of bird flu to other animals can happen.
