Ravensdown Aerowork Cresco ZK-LTK working 21km west of Hawarden, North Canterbury, New Zealand. 9th September 2018 With the use of technology ie GPS, aerial topdressing/crop dusting is far more precise on placement. Exclusions are created so that fertiliser is kept away from environmentally sensitive areas. The aircraft has a boundary file created that the onboard GPS unit automatically shuts off/turns on the flow of fertiliser at a specific rate per hectare depending if its in the block or outside. This rate is generally determined by soil testing so that the right fertliser is applied at the right rate to the right areas.
