Hello folks! Today I want to show you my new restoration project. I have a very interesting restoration. I was inspired by a legend for this restoration. A few weeks ago, I bought a piece of a shashka, there was a clip with the stamp “A“ on the scabbard, and i.e. the receiver was Alekseev. This subject is more more than 100 years old. So the legend says that earlier, when a saber or shashka broke, it was sharpened into knives, so that the good would not be wasted. And there were such knives as the plastun knife. And so today, restoring this piece of checkers, I will try to recreate a cossack knife. Well, let's start the restoration. 0:00 Review 0:34 Disassembly 2:40 Cleaning 3:43 Metalworking 4:16 Make knife guard 5:43 Handle 7:18 Gluing 7:46 Finishing the handle 8:41 Sharpening 9:12 Scabbard 12:26 leather suspension 14:06 Final result 14:46 Test 15:30 Kitchen According to the design of the blade, it can be seen that it was reworked and tried to make a dagger out of it, because the handle resembles the handle of a kama dagger. I removed the copper rivets and the rest of the wooden handle. For cleaning, I used a rust remover, then washed, dried and oiled. The scabbard, here I used hot water to remove the old leather from the scabbard. Next, I cleaned them, dried them and put them aside. I started working with the saber blade. With a wire iron brush, I cleaned the surface of the knife and moved on to the metalworking of the blade. With a belt sanding machine, I removed the old cutting edge and began to make the shank of the future plastun knife. For knife handle, chose mahogany, brass, aluminum and leather. Glued with epoxy resin and twisted everything on top with the back. I also restored the scabbard. I smeared the inside with wood paste, glued it, pasted it with a new natural thin leather. Furthermore, I made new brass fittings for the scabbard and a leather suspension for the knife. As usual, I made an interesting test of a plastun cossack knife for you. I hope you enjoyed the new restoration, good health and success to all! Recipe of the dish: Ingredients: 500g. pork pulp 2 tbsp.l soy sauce 1 tbsp.l lemon juice 0.5 tsp.l dry Italian herbs, ground black pepper if desired, or spices to your taste 1 large onion 2 Bulgarian peppers 1 cup broth or boiled water vegetable oil for frying. Cooking method: The meat is washed and dried with paper towels, cut into large pieces, pickled with soy sauce, lemon juice and spices. We leave it for 2 hours. Fry the pieces of meat on both sides until golden brown, add the onion, fry for 5 minutes, add the Bulgarian pepper sliced lengthwise, fry it all a little over high heat, pour in the broth, mix, close the lid and simmer until the meat is soft, about 35-40 minutes.
