Howdy ya’ll, Today we will be discussing the Turgot Map of Paris, France as published in 1739. This map is one of the best interpretations of pre-Revolution France that we have in existence. So much so, that the Turgot Map is said to be photorealistic, and created to scale, at a roughly 1 to 400 ratio. Besides being enormously detailed, down to the number of trees in each yard, we also have countless details which make Paris stand out from the crowd of the oldest and most intricate Old World cities. This map is said to contain every detail of Paris at the time it was created; so let us together discuss the map of 1739, and take a walk through every street in Paris. Please, feel free to use your own viewing of the map while listening to my audio. I’m just here to make you aware that something like this map exists, and did exist, as far back as 1739. The Parisian architecture? Immaculate. Have you heard about the Turgot Map of Paris? What stands out to you the most? Let me know in the comments down below!
