* Often times clients complain of having a “stiff neck” * Check out cervical rotation by simply having someone rotate to the left and right at their neck only. Is it symmetrical? Does it feel “tight”? Can they clear their chin out over their clavicle? * The neck is a tricky area. There is a lot going on there and that is to be respected. With that being said, if you are unsure, it is always the best option to train around and refer out when there is pain. * These are a few simple drills you can implement to help someone improve their cervical rotation. * Tall Kneeling Suitcase Loaded Lateral Flexion Stretch (a mouthful): Load a kettlebell to one side, laterally flex the ear to the shoulder and breathe. Repeat for 5 breaths on both sides. * Tall Kneeling Suitcase Loaded Head Turns: Load a kettlebell to one side, gently rotate the head and neck side to side in PAIN FREE ranges only. 5 turns each way. *
