The title is “The Nightingale and the Rose“, inspired by the homonymous fairy tale by Oscar Wilde. The song is part of the album “Cries and Whispers“, out on February 14. The images were shot in Lithuania by director Rytis Titas, who interprets the sacrifice of Wilde's story as a metaphor for creative sacrifice. This theme reflects the difficulties that creativity faces today, between indifference and frustration. Titas, a Lithuanian freelance videomaker, is known for his videoclips in the darkwave and gothic scene, collaborating with artists such as Diary of Dreams. He also worked as a cameraman for the Lithuanian national television. This is his second collaboration with Corde Oblique, after directing the video for “The Moon is a Dry Bone“ in 2020. The protagonist of the video is Dalila Tiraboschi, a dancer from the contemporary dance theatre “Aura“, the first professional contemporary dance theatre in Lithuania.
