This movie depicts Ca. Epulopiscium viviparus cells swimming on a microscope slide immediately after removal from the gut of the bulbnose unicornfish (Naso tonganus). In the plane of view are both stationary and fast-moving cells, along with debris. Cells rotate around their long axis and reversing direction coincides with reverses the cell rotation.
