Ninety Day Wonder: Scratch-Built Flak Tower by Claude Zeringue Ninety days: start to finish - - that was the time I had to build this 1/35 scale Flak Tower from the time I decided to build it until I entered it in the IPMS Nationals. I went through a lot of Testors Concrete paint – both the regular and aged concrete, as well an assortment of their other greens in painting this monster. I originally stressed over the color differences until I figured this thing was built in stages in real life and each stage obviously had color deviations with many, many shades of concrete. I also textured the supports. They were made of concrete as well. I added some high quality reflective film to the mirror surface to make it front surfaced so I can create the illusion of a complete flak tower instead of the quarter-section that I built.
