In this video I show two ways to use the concept of the rotating arm twist, I learned this originally in Tomiki Aikido as a variation of tenkai kote hineri or ude hineri. This version I show here that finishes with a drop and throw is nearly identical to many Kata Guruma variations from Judo and Sambo. Recently I noticed John Danaher and Garry Tonon performing this movement against the guillotine, something that Ian King (a tomiki aikido player) and I had been discussing almost a year ago. In my training across Judo, BJJ, Tomiki Aikido, and Sambo - Tomiki Aikido provided the most systematic and detailed approach to standing joint locks, because I learned this move in Tomiki Aikido and apply it as such I stick with its nomenclature despite the fact that this could be named many ways across many arts. This movement is quite viable for self defense, one can use it just as a wrist lock or face plant the opponent and then get up and walk away. #aikido #bjj #martialarts
