A tarp tent setup is great if you find yourself in a wide open space with little to no trees. If you're unable to hitch a ridgeline the tarp tent is a game changer. With an integral ground sheet you'll be able to keep all your kit & equipment dry, there's a layer between you and the exposed ground & there's plenty of room for you to bunker down.
