Presenting “Tarana“. Tarana is a type of composition in Hindustani classical vocal music in which certain words and syllables (e.g. “odani“, “todani“, “tadeem“ and “yalali“) based on Persian and Arabic phonemes are rendered at a medium (madhya) or fast (drut) pace (laya).
