She started her career in Angelin Tytöt, but left the group after the first album. Her own music is a combination of traditional yoiks and contemporary music. Sami (or Lapps) are the Native people, primarily farmers and reindeer herders, living in the polar regions of Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia. Yoik, Joik, Luohti, Vuolle or juoiggus is a traditional Sami form of song. Originally, yoik referred to only one of several Sami singing styles, but in English the word is often used to refer to all types of traditional Sami singing.
