This kinetic sculpture by David C. Roy creates a fascinating illusion. At the instant the large wheels reach the correct speeds and directions they seem to pop into the third dimension creating the donut form called a torus. It is a very efficient spring driven mechanism that runs for about 40 hours on a single winding.
