Secret Pirate Message FINALLY Revealed After 40 Years | Buck Rogers for Apple

On The Cutting Room Floor site, I noticed a “pirate contest“ taunt to read a message embedded in “boot 1“ of the the copy protection on the Apple II Buck Rogers disk that was mentioned with some other messages in the Apple II entry at: :Buck_Rogers_series “HELLO THERE PIRATES!! CONTEST -READ MESSAGE IN BOOT 1-“ However, apparently nobody has solved the 40-ish year old “contest“ yet - or at least nobody mentioned the message on the Internet (AFAICT). The message and the copy-protection were added by my mentor and former co-worker Eric Popejoy. None of the copies on the Internet had this message (stripped with the copy protection when the game was cracked). So to try and rectify this omission, I purchased a used copy and then acted like a pirate “cracking“ the game I wrote (on a real Apple //e) to trigger the hidden message. Yoho!
