For my first art song, I knew I wanted my chosen text to be something unique, and what is more unique than an original language from my favorite book series? The chapter “A Song for the Road“ from Christopher Paolini's “Eragon“ features a song by the elves of Du Weldenvarden, “The Sighing Mists“ that tells a sad tale of two lovers who were separated by longing for the sea. Elves didn't have pianos of course, so this is merely my interpretation of the original text and the emotions the elves must have felt towards the sea. English “Translation“ (Original) by Christopher Paolini O liquid temptress 'neath the azure sky, Your gilded expanse calls me, calls me. She binds my heart with a lily-white tie, Never to be broken, save by the sea, Ever to be torn twixt the trees and the waves. Ancient Language Translation O Durnareyna undir himmen b&#
