In this video I take a more in-depth look at the noise reduction tools available to us in the Yaesu FTdx5000MP. Much of what I show in this video can be accomplished using other radio brands, but especially other Yaesu radios. One big difference with the FTdx5000MP is that the digital noise reduction never sounds “watery”. With other Yaesu radios it is necessary to first limit the noise at the front end of the receiver, using a combination of attenuation, IPO, and RF Gain. Since the digital noise reduction unit has less noise to filter out, it provides a better quality of audio, minimizing the watery sound. As you will see in this video, even with the FTdx5000MP, I still prefer to minimize the noise at the front end of the receiver first. I hope you find this video informative and helpful.
