Countless compositions for organ are written on the German Christmas hymn 'Gelobet seist du, Jesu Christ'. In this video I present 8 pieces by Buxtehude, J.S. Bach, Pachelbel, Kirnberger, Böhm and Walther. It's nice to notice how different or similar baroque contemporaries in Germany treated the same hymn. Of course Bach's famous setting BWV 604 couldn't miss, I recorded two versions with different registrations and tempi. I used the sample set of the Metzler organ (2010) of the Annakirche in Düren, sampled by Piotr Grabowski. The typical Metzler baroque stops are there, but Metzler added some French romantic stops. I didn't completely avoid them with the recording of these pieces. Sample set by Piotr Grabowski: 00:00 J.S. Bach - BWV 604 01:29 D. Buxtehude 03:19 J.P. Kirnberger 04:46 J. Pachelbel 06:19 J.S. Bach - BWV 604 08:28 J.G. Walther 09:57 G. Böhm 12:50 J.S. Bach - BWV 722 =====
