East Finchley, London. C/U of a big square currant cake, a man's hand holds the cake as he tries to cut it with a carving knife, he is unsuccessful so he puts the knife down and picks up a hammer and chisel. C/U as he chips off slabs of the cake. The man is engineer Hubert Smith, C/U of his face, M/S as he chips away at the cake, the narrator explains that these items have been frozen as this keeps them fresher for longer. M/S as he puts the hammer and chisel down and picks up a frozen swiss roll, he breaks it in half. C/U as he presses the centre of each half. Interior, Henry Miller Bakery. C/U of dough being mixed in an automatic mixer, M/S of the machine at work, Ted Watson comes up and flicks a switch on the wall, the mixer stops. M/S as he turns a wheel which lifts the whisk up.
