Locals in Mannar, Sri Lanka, say that this is the grave of the first humans - Adam & Eve. I'll tell you the local story behind these graves. If you want to visit the tomb: Kappa Oli Dargah (Adam & Eve's Tomb) Adam and Eve are believed to be the father & mother of all humans, according to Christians, Jews, and Muslims. And according to local Muslim traditions, this is their burial spot. The story goes that Adam and Eve were on their death beds when they requested their 2 children to put them in the same coffin and send it out to sea on a boat. On the coffin, they said to write, “Two dead bodies have been kept in. Do not open the coffin. A place to bury will be revealed in a dream.“ The coffins were said to have been spotted off the coast by a Christian village who prayed to God for it, but it didn't wash ashore. The Christians then went to the Muslims who also prayed and this time the coffin washed up onshore. After reading the words written in Arabic telling them not to open the coffin and to bury it in a place revealed in a dream, they left it alone till someone dreamt of a place with 3 limes on the floor. They looked around and eventually found the place. Apparently, the 40ft long one is Adam's, and the 38ft long grave is Eve's. It's said that the graves are this long to show that those buried are of a high caste. This is all said to have taken place around 800BC.
