US Secretary of State Antony Blinken speculated Israel’s public relations downfall since the start of its war on Gaza could be attributed to social media, saying social media coverage has completely “dominated the narrative”. In a conversation with US Senator Mitt Romney at the McCain Institute’s 2024 Sedona Forum in Arizona, Blinken said “the impact of images dominates” which “has a very, very, very challenging effect on the narrative.” Blinken was responding to a question by Romney who asked why Israel’s PR has been “so awful,” noting the global perception of Israel and Hamas is “all the other way round” as Israel continues to lose support from the international community.
