Let me show in under one minute how the guys got this concrete apron poured around this building. They hand floated all the edges, then they used a power screed to smooth out the middle. We started at the handicap parking spot and then moved to the apron that runs the length of the building. There was good access for the truck, so no pump was needed. They put down tape on the existing shop slab at the garage doors to keep a clean line. After the concrete was placed, they went over everything with a bull float. Twisting the handle right or left tilts the float forwards or backwards. I used my framing square so the guys could line up a string to snap lines in the concrete. They use these lines as a guide for their groover. The idea is when the concrete starts to crack- it will crack in the groove rather than randomly in the slab. Finally they used a broom to finish the concrete, this not only helps to smooth it out, but creates a texture that makes it less slippery to walk on. K
