Russian Armed Forces celebrate Missile Troops and Artillery Day On 19 November, the Missile Troops and Artillery Day is celebrated in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. A decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated 21 October 1944 established this annual holiday 80 years ago. During the Great Patriotic War, the artillery showed all its devastating power. The artillerymen confirmed their honourable right to bear the title 'God of War' in battles. On 19 November 1942, thousands of artillery shells launched a counter-offensive near Stalingrad that largely determined the outcome of the war. Modern Missile Troops and Artillery of the Russian Armed Forces include missile troops and artillery of the Land Forces, Coastal Troops of the Navy, and artillery of the Airborne Troops.
