Hurricane Gerard, which left 90,000 homes without power and damaged road, rail and ferry routes from high winds and downed trees. Météo France has warned of increased winds and heavy rainfall in the southwest, as well as occasional snowfall over the Massif Central as Fien crosses the country from the southwest to the northeast. France maintains highest level of orange weather warning in three regions due to Storm Gérard hitting the country French meteorological service Meteo France, in an earlier statement, warned of dangerous weather, including heavy rains, possible flooding and strong winds. While initially over 26 departments were alerted in orange in the morning State energy supplier Enedis announced a blackout for 75,000 customers this morning, especially in the northern and western parts of the country. The storm quickly crossed ten departments of Ile-de-France and neighboring regions without causing significant damage despite strong gusts and hail.
