EUs foreign policy chief Josep Borrell calls Europe a garden and the rest of the world a jungle

The EU’s foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, was accused of racism and colonialism after he called Europe “a garden” and the rest of the world “a jungle” that could invade the garden, while speaking at the European Diplomatic Academy on 13 October. He also urged the “gardeners” to go out into the “jungle” in protection of the “garden”, saying that “high walls would not be a solution to protect the garden from invasion”.
