Welcome to this meditation. Today we’re going to talk about the feeling of loneliness. This is a very common human feeling. We all experience it from time to time. Any attempt to escape from it only makes it stronger. Acknowledge your loneliness. Accept it. By filling this experience with awareness, we learn to work with this feeling instead of fighting it or trying to run away from it. Loneliness causes us to experience difficult emotions, that is, emotions that are difficult to cope with. We are now going to try to delve into these feelings and understand their true nature. Let's begin the meditation. Get comfortable. Relax your shoulders and facial muscles. Allow your body to become heavy. Relax your eyelids and soften your gaze. You can just close your eyes if that's more comfortable for you. Gently bring yourself back to the present moment. Feel yourself in this space, in this moment. Observe your natural breathing. Take a slow breath in and out. A deep inhale, and a slow exhale. And once again, inhale, and with the exhale, relax your shoulders and neck, and let your elbows down. Observe these waves of breathing within your body. Direct all your attention to the sensations in your body. As you continue to feel your breathing, bring your attention to the experience of being alone. As you go deeper into concentration, become aware of the emotions that come with it. When you think about your loneliness, what emotions do you feel? Can you define them? Observe yourself and your emotions from the outside, without judgment or excuses. Hear yourself. Accept yourself. Talk to yourself. Look at yourself with an open heart. With honesty. Continue to observe this softening, expanding, and vibrating effect that your breathing has in your chest, abdomen, and back. Observe whether simply paying attention to your feelings changes them. Does it make them more or less intense, or does it turn them into other emotions? Simply watch the lives of these emotions within your body. By keeping these emotions in front of your awareness, is it possible to treat them with sympathy and understanding, as you would for someone dear to you? Emotions continue to flow, transform, appear, and disappear in their own space. As you follow this feeling, does your attention go to any particular part of the body? Where do you feel it most clearly? Observe this feeling as it unfolds inside your body. Now place a hand on the spot where you feel the knot of that feeling. Gently touch this area, being mindful of what happens as your hand approaches and finally makes contact. Try to openly, trustingly say to yourself “Hello. I see you.“ Leaving your hand in this place, observe this sensation; this feeling. Let your breath flow gently to this spot. With each exhale, fill the place where these emotions lie with a warm feeling of kindness. Allow the sensation of touch to spread throughout your body. Think about the love and intimacy that surrounds you now in this moment of unity with yourself. You may recall a time or situation in which you felt lonely. Perhaps you are experiencing this feeling right now. If someone else were here, what emotions do you think you would experience? Maybe joy, peace, safety. Maybe what we're actually craving are those feelings, and not the presence of another person. Try asking yourself, “How can I experience this feeling on my own, without the presence of another person?“ Think about your needs and desires. Is it possible to devote more time to your needs? Is it possible to be more generous, kind, and close to yourself? Allow yourself to recognize and feel your own worth. Allow yourself to see in yourself a person who deserves love, care, and compassion. It is not you who is in this world. This world is in you. Put yourself at the center of the world. You can feel everything fall into place. Everything and everyone revolves around you. Your every action is dictated by what you have within, not by what is happening on the outside. You live this life for yourself, based on your own desires, needs, and goals. You feel meaning and fulfillment with each day; every action you take. You live life on your terms. You have a healthy attitude towards yourself and your role in reality. In this life. You listen to your desire and know how to understand and accept yourself with all of your strengths and weaknesses. Your life here is not an accident. It's a miracle. This world belongs to you, as it does to every other person. Not more and not less. You, like any other person, are entitled to the love and support of the universe. No one except you can prevent you from receiving love, understanding, and support in this life. The Universe is giving you a sign right now that you are worthy to accept love into your life.
