On this day, 8 February 1265 CE, the founder of Ilkhanate, Hulagu Khan died because of a serious illness. Hulagu ruled Ilkhanate from 1256 to 1265. He is known for besieging and sacking the Abbasid capital city of Baghdad in 1258.
