#VisitRussia ? Kostroma is a city on the banks of the Volga River, situated 330 km northeast of Moscow. It was founded in 1152 as a northeastern outpost on the frontiers of Ancient Rus. In the 18th century, Catherine II ordered the city to be rebuilt, resulting in a European layout. ️ Kostroma is included in the tourist route of the Golden Ring not only because of its many well-preserved cultural heritage sites. This city is the cradle of the Romanov dynasty, and its history is inextricably linked with Grand Duke Yuri Dolgoruky.
